    Feldherrenhalle Gorget

    A friend was offered this Feldherrenhalle gorget and asked my opinion. I have no experience with these items so I thought I'd ask more knowledgeable collectors.

    What I see myself is a leather backing instead of the usually seen felt and an Aßmann maker mark rather than the RZM marks I've previously seen. Any opinions would be appreciated.

      IMO a fake. The leather backing, as noted, is not correct for a FHH gorget. Per Wim's massive Gorget book, there shouldn't be a central tang, although I haven't seen enough original examples to know if that's 100% the case. But there definitely would not be an Assmann 'A' marking on the gorget.
