    Eagle Order Ribbon??

Got this ribbon in a lot veteran items. It is 40mm wide. Is it for the medal or 5th class cross?

Ron, this is not a ribbon for the DAO. The black stripe should be almost twice the width of the white.

    cheers

If the ribbon is not for the DAO, what medal is it for?

Gary, what else could it be for with the large 40mm width?

Austrian annexation is similar, but thinner black section, I believe.

            A brooch-mounted 13th March '38 is 32mm with 1.5mm black stripe, a brooch-mounted DAO5X is 36mm with a 2.5mm stripe.

The black stripe even looks too thin for a standard DAO in my honest opinion.

If that is yellow/gold, it's the modern Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany - Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland

IMO this ribbon is for the Austrian mount (Dreieickesband) of the Anschluss medal. Standard german issue ribbons widths were +- 25mm (ribbon bars/some drapery mounts), 30mm (drapery mounts) and 35mm (pinback mounts). Attached is another one with a 40mm ribbon
