Early SA Eagle

I've always assumed this example was a fake for no particularly good reason except that the stamping doesn't look as crisp as some I have seen. No marks at all. Am I correct?

I wouldn't think this is a fake. Looks stamped to me , these are being reproduced but i dont think this good. Maybe others will chime in but I think its ok. Vince

Looks fine to me. Lots of variations with early SA eagles.

It's an early piece. Later versions were more chiselled and sculpted. There's one here on another thread. I did not comment on it. https://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/for....php?t=1043448 Very large numbers were produced, as well as repros.

Makers produced a ton of variants of these with some of better design than others. You also need to factor in the metal used, the die wear and "wearer wear" in the equation
Yours is a very nice original specimen IMO
