    Hey,

I'm hoping to get some opinions of this eagle that just came up from a Canadian collector.

    Thank you

    Price

He's requesting a price of $875.00 CAD for it.

If the item is good, do you think this is a fair price?

    11 inches high
    20 inches across

I would not buy it. Post war made. Just my opinion.....

              regards

base would not be the way it would be made in the day.

He claims that the base is not period, that the base was applied post war.

I like it. It is obvious that the base is a replacement. Aging of the eagle looks believable. These carved items always take a bit of faith.

I avoid items like this because anyone could have made it and the concern is post war fabrication. The detail is okay. The only wooden carved eagle I would consider would be one like the below example.

I agree with JeffV re the bit of faith. The eagle is well done, but could have been carved in 1938 or yesterday. Personally I don't like the 'seam' between the two halves, which makes me think it was done with modern means and then hand finished.

Now THAT'S a fabulous eagle, Mike -- who wouldn't be impressed by that piece?! What's the story behind that one; is it period or post-war?
