    Porcelaine plate from Führers chancellery

    Hi.

What do you guys think about this plate? I've seen few of them online and it seems to match the ones i've seen perfectly. It is about 24cm wide dinner plate made by Johann Seltmann company, with text "KANZLEI DES FÜHRERS" that is on, not under the "glassing" (dunno if thats the correct term, but I mean the glass finish on the plate)

Similar one was presented as genuine artifact by CIA on their twitter page few years back, as well there has been one on Tom Wittmans website. Links below.

The reason for the text being on the glass rather than under could be that the company Seltman has produced these plates before 1932 based on the maker mark they use in them (was in use between 1917-1932). So, whenever the plates were ordered, they could have come from existing stock and just labeled with the desired text. IMO it would make sense.

Similar one has been discussed earlier on WAF and it was proposed that this simple pattern was used by the staff and military personel working in the Chancellery.

All info and opinions are welcome!
    Thanks

A very nice artifact, Niki; thanks for sharing it with us. As you probably are aware, this plate is not from the Reichschancellery dining room; it's from the dining room of Hitler's Private Office, which was housed in a separate building on the Wilhelmstrasse prior to the opening of the New Richschancellery in 1939. The 'Kanzlei des Führers' was headed by Reichsleiter Philipp Bouhler.

Thanks James! The fact its not "just" from the reichschancellery makes it imo even more interesting. I consider myself very lucky with this find. Its fascinating, what one can find by accident. I found this from a tiny flea market upstairs my local grocery store. A retired sailor had it in a old adidas duffel bag under his table and asked if I was interested. Such a random score I have to say.
