What is about the going rate for a M44 jacket?

    Hi Guys,

As I am interested in adding a M44 jacket to my collection, I was wondering what one should expect to pay for one in today's market (I am interested in a unmessed with period piece and prefer used over unissued). If anyone wants to sell me one I will be happy to receive a pm from you. Thanks for your help!

    Cheers, Tom

I think people are hesitant to remark about pricing on the fourm sometimes.
I have had 3 unissued police m44s and i returned them all for one reaon or another, just not feeling they were original. That said I have had 2 worn ones, one all original with italian police patches that I sold, due to heavy mothing and damage. I wish I had that one back. I have another worn but reinsignia.

I too look for an untouched one to go with my police m43 trousers, shirt, cap, and 44 dot police tunic. Would be a cool setup.

I would say around the same price as heer m44 tunic. A bit less desirable possibly but probably scarcer.

Thanks. Heer M44 prices however differ widely. What is the reason in any case there are a lot more more unissued Police M44s and virtually no used ones. With Heer unissued M44s seem to prevail as well but not to the same degree. Anyone any thoughts on this?

Indeed, most Pol M44 tunics that surface in todays market are unissued. I feel myself lucky to own two worn garments ('44 en '45 production), both originaly badged in different configurations, hardly ever see others being offered for sale.

As known, M44 Pol tunics have been continued to be worn by the Police directly post war, naturally sans Third Reich insignia. For that matter, I have till date not encountered a period photograph of one being worn, only post war.

The fact that less untouched garments are being offered for sale is IMO for the simple reason less have been issued, same as LW M44 tunics. Although drafted in combat, of course the Polizei was not a fighting force and hence lesser demand for additional tunics to replace or needs for additional supply.

I think it is safe to conclude Polizei M44 tunics are much rarer than it's Heer counterpart, but less desirable by most collectors so depending who is buying or offering the prices can range subsequently.

One for sale here and apparently $1,895 is to much as they have had it for a while now.

            Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply and suggestion. Yes I had seen that one. I doesn't catch my fancy though as it lacks Litzen and looks clearly unworn. I like my stuff worn if I can get it that way.

            Cheers, Tom
