I just had this offer land in my lap and I wanted to put it out to the community for opinions before I firmed up a purchase. I don't have much experience with Gorgets, so I could use a little authentication help.

I doubt most collectors have ever held original gorgets. Market is filled with "caboodle"!
I will never give anymore hints why a gorget is fake. The scrupolous fakers read the posts and correct the mistakes!
But this not only goes for gorgets. This goes for eveything III.Reich related.
I have seen collections where 85% of the items were sh*t!

As others have said, so much wrong here that it is not worth discussing (simply for the fact that as Wilhelm Saris mentioned, the fakers pay attention to these threads and hone their "craft").

A friendly word of advice: If the source that is offering this for sale is a dealer, be VERY wary of other items he/she has as this is such a bad attempt at a FG gorget.

There are good ones out there, and they turn up on here from time to time.

Nice original Heer shown. The Luftwaffe gorget that started this thread (a one looker fake) is much rarer to find than the Heer gorget IMO and both are copied a lot.

The Luft gorget is a known, cheap fake regardless of any other item that might be offered alongside. If the source were a collector, I'd be wary as well, BTW.
