    Thanks chris you beat me to it. The insignia imo is hand sewn to look like factory machine stitching, the grommits on this style cap along with the font of the size stamp are 2 more red flags for me and s few more odd features. It would be enough for me to return this cap asap, a zoll officers cap with silver piping are super rare along with a 2 button front closure. I've only seen a couple pictures where I thought it might be silver piping on the top panel

          I would imagine if insignia was placed on this cap post war..you might be able to feel the pinholes on the backside of the cloth thru the lining..with a deft hand..Billbert
