The nice wide rail visor insignia ,,,,
Did it come in gold as well as silver.Higher and lower ranks ,or are the silver ones just lost their finish.

The gilded version is for Reichsbahn, the aluminum version for Kleinbahn. If the material is well-done gilded (and when not from inferior metals) it cannot loose its coating!
