Nick, the example I had was woven on green backing. The white examples like yours were used on Colonial Bund tunics. And of course, there were the fake ones embroidered on heavy cotton

I'm afraid I agree with Joe. I owned An "untouched" closet queen Berlin SchuPo tunic and the southern cross insignia was on green as is a loose one that I still have that was tunic removed. These were very limited and only worn for a few year by the police. The Bund used them far longer. The police insignia are very thin, the bund examples heavier and actually nicer looking. That said Inreally don't know if the police ever used the white backed examples when they were available and the police specific insignia were not.

In any case well worth the price paid.

Reich Colonial League (ReichKolonialBund) had the same insignia, also the Southern Cross.
Looking at these images...cool too!! Either way, either organisation it's a great find I feel!
