Second pattern "Thick" Police Eagle Cap Insignias

Hello All,

Just sharing a photo of some of my second pattern metal cap eagles that were used by the police. This is the thicker and more desirable type. Later on in the production, the solid metal eagles were made much thinner using a die stamped production. They were still made in two separate parts and then soldered together. The thick eagles as shown here are more desirable and did not have any maker marks on them. The detail is amazing.

Why second version ? i would say first version ?
Version for OFF made in 2 parts and of a thicker metal .

Nice flock of the 'thickies'! Typically referred to as the first pattern ordered in 1934 and used until replaced in 1936 with the 2nd more commonly known pol pattern. I've had a few of these over the year, down to one currently. Pics below of one my past examples.

Maybe to use less material ???

I think it was part of the manufacturing process in which excess material was removed; or to help with the assembly process when affixing it onto the wreaths.
