Hey everybody, I am needing some help with identifying the units in this photo album. Not much is wrote in the album itself besides two words I cant decipher and then a 14 that follows. Starting off are photos that appear pre-war or early war, two of the photos the men are wearing the not armed forces armband with a cufftitle below that with a loop appears to say Hilfs-something.

Next are two photos that are dated 1941, can’t tell if it’s a location before the date or what.

I lied, this is the last photo. Dated 14 August 1944 Bozen. Wasn’t able to get a good photo of the date but the location was thankfully at the top. Then the back of the book has this marking.

Looks like a Statue not a doll, possibly attached to a water fountain (looking at the ground around their feet).

The 'Hilfs' part would be Hilfspolizei. The Bozen image might mean this man ended up in Pol.Rgt.Bozen. Not able to help with handwriting hopefully someone can shed light on that.

Possiblly Hilfspolizei as they are members of Verstärkte Polizeischutz also known as Hilfspolizei.

The officer on the right looks like Lt Wolgasth, the CO of the 11th Company of "Bozen" Police Rgt. See Wolgasth's pic here

I think your right. The man in the centre of the above photo looks very like him. I've gone through some Pol.Rgt.Bozen photos I have too but no matches to the above.

A very interesting article, but the commander of the III Batallion was SS-Sbf und Maj. Hans Dobeck. Maj. Hans Dobbrick was noted erroneously in Katz's book Death In Rome. Dobeck's command is noted in his SS file.

Thank you for pointing out the mistake, which I had already noticed, and for providing corrections. Two captions are wrong as well, for that matter. I provided a weblink to the article with reference to Wolgasth's photo only.

The Hilfspolizei in the first photograph look like they are wearing blue Baden Polizei uniforms. The tunics have no breast pockets and have the correct button and insignia configuration with added 1934 and 1936 style cap eagles. They are wearing white Hilfspolizei cuff bands and State Service armbands as can be seen from time to time with Prussian Hilfspolizei wearing the old blue uniforms. The peaked caps also appear to be Baden with blue tops and green bands with green piping. This album could be of Baden Police being trained and set up as men for the Police Battalions.
