They were delivered in the well know cardboard boxes, then meant to be stored in containers or pouches, depends on organisation, and location, and how much you wanna spend. There also existed papers which shown how to make a pouch in your own,

Collecting the different types of cans or so is a field of its own, i know a collector who has so far over 50 different types...

This is a beautiful can and in my experience, very difficult to find. Great item.
