Odd cloth police eagle?

Hello forum...

I found this police eagle.

It looks like an old lady made it for her grand kids play uniform in the 1960s if I had to guess.

Is it wartime... or just junk?

Chainstitched...perhaps cut from a pennant? Check with OFW....

I have seen an example of a chain stitch eagle on an authorized police car pennant. But none of the authorized police car pennants featured a police eagle on the green background. The eagles, silver or gold, were always on the white portion of the pennant.

It looks like it could be TR vintage, I like the material and the stitching, not something you see on fakes or fantasy items and certainly not that well executed, however I do not know what it is.

Well the eagle is very small; the size of a sleeve eagle- 2.5". The construction would require it to be two sides or covered in some way. The background material seems cheap and coarse. Don't know what it is. Do know what it isn't- from a police flag/pennant.

That is odd, never seen anything like it before I period use or photos. Size appears to be approximately 8 cm or 3 inches in height which does puts it in the same size range of sleeve eagles, like Joe mentions, but the color doesn't necessarily align with any branches.

From the sport patch research I have done in my time and with original pieces mind you, this fits the bill for material I like to see from period pieces. Sport related, I do not know or think so... Original? Stands a good chance...

That would be my guess too, but the old lady might have made it in the TR as well for her Polizist relative ... looks like something ornamental cut from a cushion or some sort of tapestry . Have you tested the textile and the thread?
