    Hi,

many pictures of Sipo-SD men are in the archives, you can find some in the Lambert-Le Marec book "Les Français sous le casque allemand" (1994 and 2002 editions recommended).
And yes Sipo-SD men had Solbücher/Wehrpässe, one of an NCO from Dijon was recently sold on auction (pictures below).

    See You

      Damn....missed that one.

Don't have an example of a SiPo Soldbuch for anyone stationed in France but I do have a Wehrpass.

SS-Sturmscharführer u. Kriminalsekretär Johannes Albert of the SiPo in Frankreich, Einsatz-Kommando Limoges. According to a letter to his wife which was in the Wehrpass, he was KIA “in Kampf mit Terroristen," and was probably one of the German contingent killed by the resistance in Tulle.

          Hello,

The album photo with the WP was sold 500 Euro during the sale Loesch of September.

SiPo : would it be possible to know the exact date of the death of Albert ?

Normally, the members of the SiPo/SD committed outside Reich be to be expanding of Einsatzbuch but it is possible that SB is used.

          Cordial greetings.

          Polux

                  Hello,

Thank you Peter, I had not thought of exploiting Volksbund.

Thank you for the link SiPo. Strangely, the page 47 of the WP indicates another place of death, Nizza or Nice in French ?

                  Attached an example of Einsatzbuch.

                  Cordial greetings.

Polux, as you know I truly admire your great Einsatzbuch and still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on that one

Thanks for the info on the auction details. Looks like I missed a nice set.

As for the Nice entry, IMO more likely a deliberate attempt to hide the true details rather than a clerical error.

Another source on the Tulle massacre states 9 SD men were executed by the Maquis on the 7th/8th so Albert could also have been one of those rather than the SD man found holding his gun.

                    Sadly, we will never know.
