Thanks for the input I know that I posted this for opinion, and I know that these are heavily debated but heres what Ive gathered. Im going to lean towards the side of real. Here are the pros and cons ive gathered from other threads on this badge. Hopefully this will be helpful to some in the future.

      Pros:

      1) CTD made DRK badges with the correct reverse hardware.

      2) CTD also used very good grade enamel. Upon closer examination of this badge and two others which have been posted, all the signs that you would want to see in the enamel are present and it is perfectly smooth.

      3) No 2 DRK CTD badges with the correct reverse hardware have the same number on the back!

      4) There are a ton of CTD examples with coffin pins floating around as well that have the incorrect hardware / horrible enamel which leads me to believe that the correct hardware examples are genuine. Why would they bother making two different kinds at the same time if both are fakes?

      Cons:

      1) CTD, although there are period pieces, is widely regarded as being very active in post war production (or fake production)

      2) CTD is responsible for a large number of the mysterious and highly debatable Olympic / NSFK enamel badges

      3) CTD among many circles of collectors has been black listed (like Rudolf Souval) and even though there are wartime pieces, people just tend to stay away from them.

I wont say for sure if its good or bad but I am leaning towards good (as are others Ive spoken to on the subject). Again this is just for reference.

No good, IMO. It should have the name of the mutterhaus on the obverse, right?

Sorry for a , maybe, harsh answer... but i am little bored by this discussion... We had these badges several times here in discussion. I always bring forward the same arguments... it is senseless!

Maybe people don't trust me, that is ok. But i wonder why in other threads opinions of others are regarded well and are accepted? Maybe i handled too few of these badges... maybe i am not used to them...

For you and all those who may have paid a lot for badges like yours: They are ok, no problem with 'em. Fine original! Don't stop collecting them... maybe once we an make my dream come true (see next paragraph).

For all the others who believe in research, experience... and yes, i go so far, expert knowledge: These badges are fakes. I hate them! All of them should be brought together and be crushed with a giant steamroller! All those green, red, blue and black CTD and PuC badges... Kill 'em all!!!

          Have a nice weekend!

Have to agree with both saarkelte and albertcher, these are fakes. Pin is wrong, no motherhouse, machine punched large serial number instead of hand punched numbers, no Ges. Gesch. that the should have. These CTD have been discussed a lot and continue to find their way into collections of people who do not study DRK but you will not see these in DRK collectors collections. These started showing up in the 70's, if you talk to the old collectors they will confirm this. If you want more information there are several very good discussion on this site about these as to why they are bad.
