Fake or no fake - this was the Polizei Offizierschule Berlin - Köpenick building.

May we know why you have so pronounced ex Cathedra, as it were? Perhaps there is some knowledge that might be shared.

The Meißen swords are wrong for post 1934 item..... the dot at the end of the pommel is only on earlier pieces! However, the rest of the plate is lightyears away from the quality of real Meißen items

Thank you Gerd......at least you are willing to lower yourself to share your knowledge and teach we; the dirty, huddled masses.

Fakers read Internet forums, guy asked for an opinion and he got one. Its not a Meissen marking, nor is it a Meissen plate. Everything is wrong with it, until you educate them.

                    Sure they do!

But reading a forum and making fine quality porcelain like Meißen are a complete different pair of boots.

Thank you so much. "Guy asked for an opinion and got one"! That was so decent of you. You might have added that little bit about not a Meissen mark or plate to your original response and it might have even seemed as if you wanted to be "helpful".

That "fakers read forums" canard has been cover for "experts" dropping judgements without explanations for years. That's why the forums have become worthless. "It's fake", "not for me", "educate yourself before asking stupid questions", "read a book before asking", how many times have I read these answers to legitimate questions. This is specially true of the SS forum where I dare not venture. I recognize that you may be the world's greatest expert on these plates, I have no idea who you are to be honest, but wow, could you let us little people down a bit more gently.

To expound a bit. I am not asking for details when such a question arises. I have guarded details in some of my answers regarding police cloth item. I will suggest that I think something is wrong as the embroidery details do not match known originals, or details are lacking where normally seen, just an answer that suggests that there is a reason for my opinion rather that a blunt "it's fake....,you stupid, me smart".

Actually I am getting out of collecting so it is of little consequence to me, and I am sure you could care less of my opinions. I lack the funds to be a "player" in this hobby so my opinions count for nil. I am honestly sorry to see the forums turn into cheap dealer portals, and threads with no discussion. "In the good old days" we used to have pretty spirited discussions with vast amounts of accumulated knowledge passed around. Now it's hard to find a thread that goes any deeper than "what's it worth I want to sell it", or "look at my new hugely expensive purchase..be jealous, no discussion needed".

I pity the new collector or the shy collector, or the guy that doesn't have enough money to buy things of interest to the real "experts" on the forum. I suppose they can lurk and learn something, if the select amongst us don't scare them away by their condescension or outright hostility.

                      Best regards,
                      William Unland

                        Bla bla, bla bla bla,

Let me expound. The guy that posted this has little to no knowledge of the subject and will probably never take serious interest in the subject. He is most likely looking to purchase this pig off some Euro site and simply wants to know if its real before he spends his good money chasing bad. That’s all the guy wants and it’s the same as guys who post “what’s it worth I want to sell it” only this guy is looking to buy with no knowledge whatsoever.

So listen. Rather than being a long winded drag and complete downer, why not just accept that the plate is bad for 1/2 dozen reasons that most people don’t care about and rolling them all out and explaining what’s wrong with it will do nothing resolve the core issue, and that is people want to buy things that they have no knowledge of and the idea is to stop a guy like this so that he can learn over time. They want all the knowledge other people have in a “ Tweet form “. No room for windbags sir.

Well you obviously didn't bother to look at who asked the question. Alain has been around longer than you have and has demonstrated a keen interest in learning and sharing his knowledge. You attitude can only be described as condescending.

For what it's worth, I have a problem with the title on the plate: Reichspolizei. But I will continue to look in my references for that title.

Why would a simple remembrance plate have to be of the same exalted quality of the fine Meissen that my Grandmother collected? And the trademark? Will someone explain to me why a similar trademark is found in the 1943 book issued to Kripo officials to help identify and catalog property for reports?

That is not proper, it is not Meissen, and!! it should be one looker bad to anyone with any experience. On top of that its an old fake, the new ones are much better. You guys get these little pocket books and handy guides and think you have the answer. Its not the mark, its how the mark is applied, its the porcelain which is junk, its the graphic and how its applied, its the weight, its the feel, the smell. Its bad flat out.

Condescending? I am not sure how you get that. This go's on all day long here and other places, there is no reason to break this piece down because its trash, complete trash and anyone that has been around would know it whether they collect this or not. You want to stand around the thing and talk about feel free, its a waste of time. There, that's condescending.

Oh, so Meissen was so anal that they would not take a commission from the SS-Hauptamt Ordnungspolizei for souvenir plates at reasonable prices? During the late 1930s and into the 40s. You have that on authority of course. What little pocket book and guide are you referring to? The one provided earlier by Gerd? The attachment I provided was a manual printed in 1943 for agents of the Kriminalpolizei. Are you saying it should be disregarded?

"Its not the mark, its how the mark is applied, its the porcelain which is junk, its the graphic and how its applied, its the weight, its the feel, the smell. Its bad flat out." And of course you have handle this particular plate. And in your opinion, everything that came out of Meissen was classic porcelain. You're sounding like Rivett with all your subjective observations of the physical characteristics of the plate.

Trash talk is cheap. As are opinions.
