    Interesting traffic police photos

    Hello,

I ran across these photos on German e-bay of a group of motorcycle police from Hannover.

There are some interesting uniform details. In the first photo the white jacket is being worn OVER the standard SchuPo tunic reminding that the traffic police was an assignment not a separate branch of the police. The guy on the right has no sleeve eagle. He is seen in other photos without this insignia.

Presented for educational purposes before they are purchased and disappear forever.

In this photo green trousers are being worn with the white tunic rather than the specified black. He is also wearing a white shirt, not the typical brown.

This photo shows they wore the white schirmmutze and rubberized SchuPo overcoat while on motorcycle duty. Also shows that their officer wore a standard SchuPo uniform. I am assuming these guys have a SchuPo uniform under the coats. The white cap is the only indication of assignment.

It is also interesting to note that all of the schirmmutzen shown have really "floppy" unstructured white covers, much like the example I posted before. It is my belief that these caps were put together using NCO bottoms and officer's white tops that really didn't fit. They were cheap contract pieces.

Really great pictures Bill. Do you think that perhaps the guy in the first image might be wearing a party brown shirt of some type with collar tabs in white (Ortsgruppe) instead of a Schupo tunic? Just seems it would be very tight with two tunics on. Were you able to place the license plates to a city?

Thank you for posting these interesting reference photos.
I have a question. A couple of the pix show a leather pouch on the belt at the left hip.
I assume this would be for traffic related paperwork? Do you have any photos of the actual piece?

                Thanks again

Bill, the license plates are issued by the Reg-Pras. of Hannover. I don't have access to the list of major cities in that Reg-Bez. that would have a Verkehrspolizei force.

Great pics And I was wondering if the plates would provide a possible clue to the insignia name, thanks Joe! I was also curious by the box being worn, thanks Gerd for posting an example, never seen that before!

Thanks Gerd, what a great community of knowledge here on the WAF.
The photos and reference thread answer the question.
