        Superb.

Did service in the FSP or Fire Service count as 'Civil' for the Faithful Service Award ? Or was the Fire Service Cross effectively their Service Award ?

          Ian,

Cannot answer that, and perhaps one of our more knowledgeable members can give us that advice.

I do know that it is not uncommon to have the Long Service medal or device in combination with the Fire Service medal.......

              reply.

As it is a civil award there was an award for the fire service .
This was for gallantry (long service )I guess IMO .
as shown this came in 2 different classes.
I think they would have been entitled to the civil service as well 25 .40 .50.
why not .wernt the police also allowed this ????
Just throwing ideas here ( lets have some ) ...????
              Regards Pete

Technically it's for 'Merit' I suppose so just 'Service' would be the Faithful Service 25 and 40.

Wasn't the 'Sonderstufe' 50 Year Award mainly intended for workers with private companies ? Hence the change in the reverse text to 'Treue Arbeit' rather than 'Treue Dienst'.

                  Ian,

                  Indeed you are correct.

"50 Year Cross was founded on January 30, 1938 as a special class to the Faithful Service Medal to reward long and faithful service of employees of private firms who worked for the same concern for a period of 50 years or more."

There was one on the Estand here quite recently but it seemed over-priced to me ... I would guess at around the £300-£350 mark, maybe a bit more in very good condition. Obviously they aren't commonly available all over the place so you may have to wait for the combination of price and condition.

                          I got mine separately ..
