Need Some Opinions On Silver Wire Fire Police Officer Patch

Would like some opinions on silver wire fire police officer uniform sleeve patch. Cheese cloth backed and the size is 3, 3/4" around. Has some very minor tarnishing on the some wire. Came from a vet's large insignia collection located in the US midwest.

I do not believe that this is an original piece. The poorly-defined feathers in the eagle, and the open top to the wreath enclosing the swastika are clear signs of a reproduction.

Agree, looks like a repro to me. Bad quality and design is a huge turn off. NJ

No, I'm sorry, there are some glaring differences in this insignia and known originals. Firstly, the six feathers on the wings is atypical, although not entirely impossible. Secondly it is executed in one size purl (silver wire). Good examples use at least three and sometimes more. Thirdly details are picked out in thread. This was NOT done on police insignia as it was on SS and some other types of bullion badges. Thirdly the design is round rather than oval form and basically not what is typically seen on officer's insignia.

The level of wire work and execution is pretty good, clearly professionally done, that said however; the design is poor by NS-zeit standards.

Again, if this is yours I am sorry. In my opinion it is not an original period police insignia.

          Regards,

I would say a vintage 70's repro where you still had a nice embroidery quality made in Europe , but less knowledges on how it should look !
