Odd Fireman's Helmet

Hey guys!

I have an odd one here.

I know it is a fireman’s helmet. Brought back by a US vet.

Comb is missing…buuuuuuuuuuuuuut.

I cannot find this specific style anywhere.


- Chin strap connects to the shell directly (not to the liner), via the lower rivet.

- Air Vents are like raised buttons

- Liner Retaining rivets are quite flat

- Location of Liner rivets in odd position.

- LOCATION of Chin Strap rivet is directly center, below the 2 air vents.



Most Combs I see are retained by a nut/screw…but not this one…

Mike,

It is an early M34 helmet with what we called "salt shaker" vents.

The comb has been removed and the slots plugged...quite common.

Here is another that still has the comb on top, and you can see the remains of the early decals under the newer style.....

Rob, I believe I've also heard them called "square dip" helmets as well. Beautiful early variants!
