    Schupo sidecap with "rosette" eagle

I was quite pleased with this new acquisition until I found several references to the "rosette" cap eagle!!

This "Peter Kupper" marked sidecap looks very convincing , although I have limited experience with Polizei headgear. I'd be grateful if members would take a look at the pics and share their opinions.

The cap has some wear to the interior and some scattered surface moth to the exterior. It also has an inked-in number ... a modern collector acquisition number?

Thanks for any comments you may make ...

    Regards
    Paul

Cap itself is good. The eagle I find somewhat harder to judge.

but I would tend to say it's a good one. Possibly re-attached.

We have had numerous discussions over the years about these insignia. To sum them all up....nobody has any proof one way or the other. The design does not follow standard norms but nobody can find evidence of where or when these were made. It was "assumed" for many years that they were bad simply because they are different. To my knowledge there are no known photos of this eagle in wear. There are also no old reproduction catelogs selling these. So to sum it up, its your call.

The cap looks perectly fine to me. The attachment of the insignia is consistant with period use. I am open to these eagles, but I cant say with any authority that they are good or bad. There are not that many of them in the market, which supports their being authentic. That said though, they will always be different and will spook many away.

Thank you Erik and Bill ... I appreciate the time you took to respond. I have also revisited the old threads on these eagles. What a dilemma

                Kind regards
