Your brooch is/was a silver one, that means it was most likely handed out to a former female auxiliary that took part in a wartime course, became a nurse and was attached to a sisterhood (but not a full member). She was not regarded as a full nurse with a proper (peacetime) education. The last one wouzld have received a golden one.
