    Gestapo Disk

The numbering on the reverse looks off to me. What are your opinions regarding originality?

One of the infamous "Polish" disks, circa 1994.

The "E" and "I" are the giveaways.

Thanks Gary. I can easily accept this is a fake, but it is probably not one of the Polish types. Look at the "E" on this one again - nice trumpet shape to it.

Without the bad number font, which looks almost engraved, I'd say this one is a reasonably tricky fake if not viewed in hand.

This is not a Polish copy disc.

The disc appears to be a cast of an original disc and the numbers enhanced.

Sipo, that sounds about right. I'll check it for casting flaws, but that is a reasonable theory as the details look correct on this, with the exception of the "stamping" that is likely enhanced by the copier.

I think it looks like a castiong too, but the image is poor. Robert, if you have it in hand, can you weigh it? Compare it to the two nice originals shown earlier this year in M-E-H-T's post.

Dave, we have many pinned threads on uniforms and such, but nothing on discs about which there are many questions. Pin that one I mentioned.

Thanks Joe, I can weigh it and send some better pictures.

Robert, I think the casting is obvious. I would encourage you to weigh it and familiarize yourself with the traits of casting, the lack of details to the eagle, letters and numbers and what I suspect would be a lighter weight?

Sure Joe, I'll weigh it and post the results. I'm fine on spotting cast items in hand; can't tell from these pictures though how it was produced. You're much better at spotting these than a layman like myself.

Not true, I recently pinned the below linked thread since this has become a frequent topic of discussion. Although I will also pin the other thread you mentioned. Just wish there was an easier way to merge some of these threads to make it a little easier...

Sorry Dave, I had forgotten that Don's thread had included an example of a real and Polish fake Gestapo discs. I only remembered Don writing that his web site address had changed. The m-e-h-t thread has examples of the earlier discs.
