I really don't find any of your jackets convincing.
There is period pictures of such uniforms being worn. I'll get some pictures of my tunic and hat set I just recently got in the mail. Very rare and cool pieces.
I know of the recycled uniforms that volkssturm used, my point is that I would regard genuine pieces to be as scarce, if not more scarce, than ost truppen items - and they are rare as - yet here we are seeing multiple examples of these.
The ones that grantsmil posted are really stretching the credibility, all with replaced buttons? why? They all have neatly machine sewn collar insignia? I would have more faith in hand stitched examples.
Nice to have a passion in a field but to me these pieces show more of that than a logical evaluation of the pieces.
The VS was a motley looking bunch and I guess almost anything was possible from civilian clothing to actual uniforms or a mix of various clothing. The tunics, jackets etc all look original. Whether they were actually worn by someone in the VS is in the eye of the beholder, lacking any concrete documentation. Thanks for showing them. Jim
paul.j offered a critical opinion on my posts in this thread. I appreciate all and any input. However, I am afraid I must disagree with his opinion.
He identified three reasons for suggesting all my items are 'unconvincing', ie fake or phony.
Firstly, he consider these items to be rare and for several to be in one collection is unrealistic, therefore they must all be fake or phony. I find this argument unconvincing.
Secondly, it is stated that all the collar patches on the uniforms and jackets I have posted are machine stitched - this is wrong & it is not the case.
Lastly, he stated that all the items have replaced buttons; this is also incorrect.

Well I'm looking at 2 jackets with machine stitched collar tabs? I'm also looking at an m44 jacket with the pressed paper buttons found on shirts? Is that not the case?
Either way its your money, if you think they are real knock yourself out, I'm sure sellers like Coleman wont complain.

Reason: spelling
Without presuming if these tunics are good or not, I don't see an issue with collar tabs being machine stitched on reused uniforms.
I could understand the argument if these were civilian clothes re-used by Volkssturmmänner but for the (not so few) units who received re-purposed uniforms (Waffenrock, RAD or other Heer tunics), they were provided by the army depots. In that case the machine stitching is OK from my point of view.
I agree. Inside look would be goof!
This could be an SS M44 tunic with a blank black collar...
which explains no chest eagle and black SS infantry shoulder straps...
Somebody erroneously added a pip making it look like VS!
