    silver lifesaving medal

I would like to ask your opinion on this one. I don't see any immediate red flags, but then again in our hobby you can never be too careful

    many thanks

        Hi Ian

I sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the medal you show is IMO a fake. It appeared 3-4 years ago on the bad dealers tables in german shows.

Heres and old compare I did.

Sorry Ian, hope you can get a refund or at least fry the dealer!

Heres a composition, I once made for another forum, of the three types I would be comfortable with. The hauptmünz Berlin on the bottom type is IMO the awarded type, and can be found with the same minrror/frosting effects when mint.

Great work Thomas! I really liked Ian's 835 example until I saw the outline of the eagle's head on the right hand side which had a bump in it and not straight as it should be.

Maybe there were two dies produced though? I must say that it otherwise ticks a lot of my boxes.

What do you think about this one? I'm quite sure it's fake (the wreath on the reverse doesn't look right), but still I'd like a second opinion

Jeroen, it´s quite obvious. It´s a fake, as you said

Ah, too bad. The price was interesting, so I hoped it was real after all.

                            thanks
