Thank you for the link - very interesting uniform I've never seen before. Actually, I tell a lie. I have seen something similar in blue for the Flakhelferin making me wonder if the one on that site was for members of the RAD Flak units.

Would love to have seen photos of those two uniforms you were offered for sale. Am I the only one on here who likes RADwJ uniform items?

          Ancasta,

i think you will find there is not much interest in the RAD or RADwJ on this forum, ive started alot of RAD threads with few or no replys, most collectors of TR items want miltary/combat related items, badges or political stuff (SA,NSDAP etc)it seems like RAD daggers and headgear allways go for prices comparable to other branches of the TR(RAD daggers actually go for more if you compare officers daggers with heer or luft daggers) and untill the last year or so RAD uniforms were fairly cheap compared to most TR uniforms.I did not save the pics that were sent to me of the 2 RADwJ tunics because i did not have an interest in them.

          Sven,

was your grandpa in the RAD?if so do you have any photos or details (unit, locations etc?)

BTW i have more RAD uniforms that i will add pics of to this thread when i have the time!

Agreed Yancy, very little interest. Surprising really considering what they did before and during the war. I admit I do have a soft spot for the RAD parade hat - would love to own one of those one day.
I have seen RAD men's tunics go for between £150 - £200 this summer, and quite often they are left hanging in the elements on a militaria stall so clearly people have little interest in them.

If you do happen to come across female RADwJ items please let me know, especially cloth items. I come across a lot of men's RAD items in my travels so let me know in turn if there is anything in particular you are looking for and I will keep my eyes open for you

As a throwaway comment, I have heard a rumour that someone is thinking about starting a RAD reenactment group Stateside. Have you heard anything about this?

Nice collection there George. Superb flag! I see you even have one of the rare early RADwJ brooches. I'm currently seeking the serial numbers to trace their original owners.

Am jealous of the hat however...

                    RAD Uniforms

                    Hi all,
Since I collect mon-military organisations of the Third Reich, the RAD forms part of my interest. I have several pieces of uniforms and caps of this organisation. I did see that RAD female uniform, but things like that scare me a bit. Whenever I see somthing that I cannot find photographic evidence of, I tend to stay a bit away.
Lately I got a female tran conductress complete uniform. By complete I mean, three types of head dress, tunic and skirt plus a pouch that was used for giving change from. Unfortunately I never found any photographic evidence of such uniforms. I guy I got the complete uniform from said that it belonged to his grand mother. He is not a dealer.

There are many many photos out there of women in the uniforms you mention, and quite a few on this forum. Here are some examples from this forum alone:

Here is my latest RAD find, an early prewar style rock tunic dated 1937. The spade sleeve patch is loosly pinned on for now!

Here is mine. Comes from the same girl, together with greatcoat and skirt.

And the hat - that one has a grey band. The badge is missing, but you can see the 2 pinholes were it once has been. If anyone out there has a nice one to complete - please PM me.
