    Opinion Mother's cross

I request your opinion on a Mother's Cross of Honor 2st Class in Silver? (I think it is silver) 1938 w/full-length ribbon, hard case marked CARL POELLATH SCHROBENHAUSEN.

Its original but has lost most of its silver finish, the case does not belong to it, silver crosses belonged in enveloppes, not in cases. It is as such thus a "married" together ensemble.

Cross max 30 euro (really MAX!), case depends on condition of the outside, the little piece of cloth between the top and bottom is already damaged so it's already not int he best condition too.

Personnally i'd not buy these two together but go for a better cross in an enveloppe.

I would also say that it is a silver showing a lot of tarnish to the finish. I agree with jabnus that the case is for a Gold Mother Cross. Bronze and Silver Mother Crosses were issued in paper packets.

      Best regards,
      Tom
