Reichsbahn specialty patch?

Hello,
I got this from a picker in Germany over 20 years ago. It was in a wooden box that reportedly came from the widow of a policeman. Her father had been in the Reichsbahn, so I believe this beloged to him, but I have never been able to find it in any reference of TR insignia. Any ideas?

In official regulations from the Reichsbahn you will not find an Edelweiss patch at all. It is not mentioned between 1933 through 1945. What this one is I do not know. Can't remember ever having seen it.

If it isn't railway then I have no idea what it could be. I guess I'll give it another day or two on here and then maybe post a link in the political section and maybe even the SS section since it's on a black background. In the end it may be so obscure or something non-military or political and I won't be able to find out what it is. Thank you for your input.
