Is this a police, or SS police badge

I asked this question on the headgear forum, but just noticed the existance of this police forum, so will ask here. What is the badge pictured below? Is there any difference between a police and an SS police cap?
I am planing on buying this cap from a family, are there any red flags visible? all looks good to me.

The insignia shown is the standard cap eagle worn by the Ordnungspolizei after the uniform regulations of 1936 standardized police uniforms. It was worn by all uniformed police branches except the Wasserschutzpolizei who wore a yellow cap eagle. It is NOT related to the SS. Silver on black was the specified color.

When you refer to SS police I assume you are referring to militarized SS police division personnel. Initially when they were reassigned as combat troops they wore this standard police insignia. With time their uniforms were replaced with standard waffen SS uniforms. There was no "special" SS assigned police insignia. Civil and "combat" assigned policemen wore essentially the same insignia.

      Thank you for the information.
This cap was recovered in an area where the 19th SS Polizei Regiment was involved in fighting in early 1944. I will post a full thread about this when the time is right.
If I understand your post correctly, it would be perfectly possible that soldiers of the 19th SS Polizei Regiment would have worn such a cap? Or would 1944 have been late enaugh that they should have been wearing SS uniform items already.

That police badge could have been worn until the end of the War.

        Regards,
        Chris.

OK, thanks. I am supposed to pick up the cap soon.
I am researching the unit right now, and it is very interesting, and is cross checking what the family told me about the cap.

I know your question is focused on insignia, which you have received some comments, although do you have any pictures of the whole cap inside and out? Is it a Mtn or M43 cap? Piped, not piped?

No other info for now, except that the cap also has an edelweiss. The cap is part of a lot of items found in the attic. I didnt ask for details, I will see in person.
