Looks good and a nice high ranking Gendarmerie tunic too Is there a tailor label / named, maybe inside the interior pocket?

I think the tunic is kinda cheap for an Obstlt. I would have expected silky rayon lining and a tailor label, in addition to fancier pointed collars for an officer of his stature. Missing runes is not unusual as only 25% of Obstlts. in 1941 were SS members. Sure he was a WWI vet but Meister ranks had lots of loops too.

The tunic has screw posts for the shoulder boards. Is there a button under the right board for his aiguillette?

I have to agree with Joe on this one. Very high ranking career police officer, with a cheaper field grade tunic. Not impossible but not expected either. This guy would have been a distinct level administrator sitting in a nice comfy office somewhere. I would expect a tailored tunic. Shoulder straps are easy to resew I'm afraid. All the parts look good, but it is impossible for me to say they originally went together.

This one might not appear the best in the photos (which can be difficult to take at times) although I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a cheap NCO tunic either, it does have some positives with the inner cinch belt, and screw down studs. The interior does appear lower quality and not the bright shinny as seen in others although is it also discolored, worn, and soiled? Was there sign of a tag that may have been removed? Exterior wool doesn't look unacceptable for this rank and is not that bad overall other than some wear & tear. The collar points don't bother me as much, I hold a few officer grades that I guess are ho-hum and lack much in the way for points. Overall, the rank is high and would prefer to see better quality tailored work fitting the pay grade although lesser is possible. Perhaps the pictures are not helping either, it may present different in hand which would be my preferred way to examine.

Lucasz. I cannot see any view of the inside of the sleeves. What is that material? And also, what is inside of the cuffs?

These are much nicer photos. I withdraw my previous speculative criticism. Your tunic is clearly officer grade and all appears in original configuration. Sleeve eagle is an attractive example of the crested head variation which is less common than other types. Although the lining appears to be polished cotton rather than rayon I think this May be a cold weather variant rather than indicative of lesser quality. Nice pre-war tunic. Too bad about the mothing, and too bad it is impossible to ID this high ranking career cop.

                              Regards,
