Hi gentlemen, I need help about the officer (Hauptmann) n° 1 on this pic.

1) Is he a Hauptmann and what are the white bands on his sleeve ?

2) for witch weapon are the 2 magazine pouch on his belt ?

Not a Hauptmann but this is the appointed rank of Der Spiess. The rank straps are actually Meister (senior NCO) in this case.

i think that the pouchs are for 20 rounds magazins , for MP34 steyr machine gun, or bergman ,20 rounds!
the polizei units have this 2 guns in service!

Next time you might try using a smaller size image in your post, as your full size image makes it extremely difficult to view the answers and photo. It is a mess. Dave, can you reduce the photo?

The man on the left has the rank of Meister or senior nco. He is not an officer. He is wearing a 3-mag pouch of 32 rounds, not a 2-mag 20 round pouch. Judging from the relative size, I would say that it is for the MP38/40, not the MP28II or other MP that used 20 round magazines. Also, police MP mag pouches were usually secured with a strap fastening up to a stud on the flap.

I cannot figure out what strap his hand is holding. Some type of shoulder strap?

I could be wrong but I am still not 100% on that despite the back story.

Can I ask what basis are you attributing it on ? Do you have other images of these 2 men ? Is this picture from a series? If you are posting any more images please resize them.

First I'm sorry for the size of my post. This pic come from private archive of my area. The photo come with a group of french Sipo-SD men of SD Clermont-Fd (all are well know and dentified !). The owner of this great group is the dauther of a french maquisard who get the group in automne 1945. No connection with any collector ar renactor...
This photo is 100 % not reactor, but you can believe what you want Helden.... The Sipo-SD Ustuf. or Ostuf. (n° 2) is a man of SD Vichy.
