    DRK Schwesternhelferin Brooch

    Worn by DRK senior female personnel who were on active service.

    It was worn on as a duty badge on the service uniform, usually as a brooch...

      Hello,

      let me add some facts:
      The brooch is a service badge that was handed out after finishing a special training. This lastet over months and meant an in depth education of the very lady. For comparisson the "Helferin" badge, more commonly, was just for a finished first aid course od "some" lessons in class and practical training.
      A Schwesterhelferin had to do service in an hospital, much more theorie lessons in class, political education and so on...
      The brooch was worn at the throat of every female member (that of course finished the course! Nurses had their own insignia) of the DRK to the service uniform... even female doctors did so (they even did just wear the helferin brooch when they did not finish the Schwesternhelferin-course).

      The badges exist in enamel and painted and from various producers.

      The cloth insignia was used in two ways: For the sports dress and for the work coat. they exist in two slightly different sizes and from different producers of Wuppertal.

      Regards!
