Mothers Cross - Real or fake?

Neighbor just showed me this but I'm mainly into U.S. WWII stuff so can't really help him much. Story was his brother got it back in the 80's when he was stationed over in Germany.

Question 1 - is it real or fake? (I lean towards fake as he also had a small flag that I researched here and learned it was a fake).

Question 2 - If real or fake, what's it worth? (If real, I want to let him know and if fake I'll offer what it's worth and put it in my WWII display).

Your cross is the exact fake that used to be sold years ago by the firm of Delta International of Lafayette, CA. That ribbon is not the Delta ribbon that they furnished with it; that ribbon may be an original that someone put on that cross.

        Hi,

It's indeed a fake, and the ribbon is as Silesien says an original replacement.

Note also the artificial aging of the reverse to make it look old.

If you put an original cross next to it the differences will be very good noticable.

        best regards,
        Gaston

Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought.

Any idea on what a fair price would be?

They used to be sold by Delta for about $2.oo. I myself think it's worthless ( except for the original ribbon ). And who would want a fake Mother's Cross anyways, especially one this terrible looking with the swastika disc glued on crooked.

              Thanks.

Like I said, I don't collect this stuff so just wanted to let my neigbor know if it was worth anything.

IF the ribbon is original (must be UV-) then they sell in their original tissue paper for £16 delivered over here ... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WW2-ORIGIN...#ht_608wt_1190

The repro cross is (as you've already been told) worthless I'm afraid.
