Strange head for this type of eagle, oak leaves around the swastika don't sit right for my liking, I do not like it, however, the embroidery is good except for the feet. I have not yet seen any others of this type, which is a good thing, therefore I cannot say yes or no on this one, it would be a wait and see for me on this one.

When compared to known originals, this looks like a chubby eagle holding a rather unusually oval wreath with a really tilted swastika and having many inner feathers, too many I dare say.
The fact someone has not seen other specimens like this doesn't imply a favourable vote, someone else might have seen them. Or its "rarity" may be attributed to a limited run.
There are better repros out there.

Although GP and I have some considerable differences I agree with him on this one. It is of a pattern that has good examples and very very good reproductions. This particular eagle displays traits of both, which makes it tough to make a final call. It seems more good than bad to me. It is certainly not a one look repro. My concerns are limited to the different head and the protrusion of the inner feathers below the level of the body. These are characteristics of the fake version. Also the stiff new looking backing material with hesitation marks in the cutting out are not typical. But as I said, if pushed I lean more good than bad on this one.

The inner feathers are actually going the wrong way i.e. curving upward instead of down as they are on most other patterns. The obvious close trimming of the backing would not concern me as I have observed many known originals cut down from the oval to the shape of the eagle and wreath, or simply cut the town name out. All it's flaws aside, when ever I have questions about first impressions, I look at the back. Someone may prove me wrong, but I have yet to see a reproduction that has a non glowing, even distribution of white back stitching (snow). Feuerwehr are some of the cheapest eagles on the market. Does it really pay to reproduce them in quantity. I'm thinking more and more this one might be a "sleeper".

Tom the inner feathers are not going the wrong way, this is a legit patterned body and the feathers are correct for this type of eagle. see pictures. These so far, are the only two types with this oak leave and body configuration that are currently known as originals, so to find one with a new head is a hard call. However now comparing the three I would say that the new one is a repro
