Police Sleeve eagle on odd green wool. OD

Bought these three eagle in a group with some other Nazi items.

I was after this strange bird.

Never seen another one made like this. How someone can enlighten me to the why?

Group photo with and without flash.

    Cheers,
    Howard

Reverse gets better! Odd backing material.

I've seen many, many police eagles in the last 25+ years, but nothing like this one.

Unfortunately I have seen this one before, it's another repro that has been around for some time and comes in various colors and versions. Also this pattern or a close copy was used on fake police pennants.

Another example just like yours. Problem is dealers sell them w/o knowing.

A prime example of why I always want to see the backs of eagles.

Gauze type backings were not as often used, but there were some companys that made patches with gauze typebacks....so although fakes aremade with this type material, it was also actually used during the TR. Problem is differnetiating between the originals and fakes(provenance is the best way to tell). I kinda like the this polizei patch in question...it seems to have wear....and age to it, plus excellent workmanship..
