    Ansbach Gendarmerie Eagles

Just a photo to show four different pattern M36 police NCO sleeve insignia all named to the same district; ANSBACH.

Interesting to me that such a variety exists for the same place and unit.

I just noticed I had these while deciding which to keep, for now, as the time has come to clean up a bit.

    G'day Bill.

Interestingly, this eagle is on a tunic on Weitze's latest update.

    Happy Christmas, Mike.

Hard to tell, but that's the same type as the lower right in my photo. Thanks.

        Different patterns for same location

        W. Unland,
VERY interesting seeing the different patterns for the same location and branch. Would all of these have been produced and used during the same time frame (since all are oval and named)?

        Thanks, Randy

          Yes, same time frame, 1936-41.

Only have one Ansbach (pictured) and it's like you lower left.

It is curious to see so many patterns to one district...

Lower right reminds me of the Speyer examples, upper left of those seen for Luneburg & Linz.

Weitze has this tunic since a long time.

When someone would like to sell one of those Ansbach insignias please let me know.

                Dave,

Yes, same pattern as the perpetually faded SPEYER eagles. The eagle pattern you show was obviously made by a large supplier as examples from all over Germany are know.

The upper right is the oldest of them. Quote ornate font on the lettering and the design suggests very early production as oak AND laurel leaves are used in the wreath, a trait dropped almost immediately.
