I haven't heard from Raz for many years and don't think that he still collects.

A cased First Class pin back cross was sold by A Thies last weekend for €5000 plus 23% commission.

That's a nice Cross you have there William

Fire Brigade Cross Pin Back 1936

Stan I know RAZ had one but like you I haven't heard from him either over the years I do believe that the numbers of this cross that exist are between 5-7. Crazy but I also think that is about the same awarded during the 13 months they existed !!!!

This is one of the most annoying threads I've ever come across. First you basically say, and I'm paraphrasing, it's real and I don't want to hear anything else other than that. Then, after several failed attempts to link pictures to a private email account?!?--even though you own a 7k badge and won't pay the 25 bucks to do so yourself--you make another member post pictures for you only to reveal they're utterly useless. You response to this by saying, it's not a photo contest, but the minute details are everything with these things....so yes, decent pictures are a basic requirement. And finally, if only 5-7 of these exist how can you complain about the limited comments thus far? It too isn't "rocket science", just do the math. If there are only a few examples out there most here won't be capable of making a educated response. What were you expecting? A bunch of mindless persons wooing over your badge that have absolutely no idea if it's authentic or not?

Well ... IMO how old anyone is doesn't mean one knows what is good or what is bad.

I personally know a couple of guys in their late 50's that have been collecting for years and own a ton of fakes. Even if you try and tell them they just refuse to believe you.

I also know many people in their early to mid-20s that have been collecting for 5 years or less that have nothing but original choice pieces.

1936 1st Class Fire Brigade Badge

Darrel Yes this is true . I've known a lot of collectors and they have not kept up with their home work . I've been burnt before so I've been very selective over what I collect and who I recieve then from . One of the BEST collectors who has past away looked at my Fire Brigade Badge and told me it was an ORIGINAL. It was Bill Stump who helped Angola with some of his reference books and David Little John and Dockins with their reference books. Stump was the one who also produced photos of Italy's Dictators { Order of The German Eagle with Diamonds } Along with many of the photos of the front and backs of the many of the Third Reich awards along with Dr. Klietman of Berlin.
Collectors- need to know the metals used for different badges during different time periods and what changes made in the different time periods during a badges construction.
Hallmarks you can find on badges. Hallmarks have letters arranged by a manufacture in a patten. The placement of the letters is very important to know !!
They also may change their hallmark when they change the alloy used in the badge. Often you will find Hallmarks carried over in the change of alloy used.
Changing to zink also changed the construction of the badges pin and catch assembly.
This is the HOME WORK NEEDED TO BE A GOOD COLLECTOR !!!
