I am going to start this thread because I feel this forum lacks info on this subject. I am asking that this be pinned as a forum under the title "Wehrmacht Era cloth Sport Insignia" and any other threads that may exist on this subject be re routed to this forum. My hopes are that it will be used for people to show off what items they have but also be used to talk about different versions and other related sport insignia such as school's, corporations and other sport's clubs that all had there own insignias.
I have been on the hunt for info and photos of these items for some time and come across little info till recently. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Newbrough at the max show who is the author of " Sport and the Third Reich: History, Uniforms, Insignia, and Awards " really the first of it's kind.
After my brother received his book I noticed many items that I always believed had exist but never seen one or a photo of one. One in particular is the following. My brother who has been at this for some time was surprised to see it as well. The Ironic part of this story is 2 days after seeing it in the book I found one for sale as a freak accident while searching the internet for some thing else unrelated. I did end up buying it.
The following photo is of my 1st pattern Kriegsmarine Sport shirt patch the wingspan is 8 1/2". What I want to know is was this an insignia that I just never noticed before and is more common then I think or is this as rare I have thought? I can not seem to fined it any where else on the internet.
