I would like to share these DAF items with you fans. Not the best condition, - the award is de-Nazified - the plaque off of the outside of the factory wall weighs like 21 pounds - but absolutely Real. To anyone who has one of these real plaques, I'd like to mention, it is probably just my imagination, but these plaques seem like they have an aura to them, as if they absorbed some of the enegery from the frantic activity of the rapid production of armaments and equipment that they so proudly rewarded. That's my impression, anyway - probably just imagination, like I said. But if you own one, I'm sure you'll agree, these babies are pretty darned impressive, to say the least.
The plaque and Urkunde go quite nicely together. I hate that they aren't perfect - but they are kind of rare, when you think of it. How many factories in the Reich per year won the honor of being a model factory? 20? 30? Do the math, and these are way rarer than most medals out there.
The factory the Urkunde was awarded to is still in operation in Bielefeld. No need to mention the name - easy enough to find out. And God only knows where the plaque came from - U-Boat factory? -FW 190 Plant? Wherever it's from, it's massive, impressive, and convincing.
Hope you DAF collectors enjoy. I'm sure someone out there has a non-de-nazified Urkunde - These are beautiful. If so, please share with me, or show me the link. There can't be many in existence, so I'll take my de-nazified version over not having anything. But I'd like to see pictures of a near mint version. Anyone have one and want to share?
