Police Insignia cut from something??

Gentlemen,

I came across this piece with some other Police items. It looks to me like It was cut from something. Its very soft....cotton...does not flouresce....and I was wondering what it could be from? Its not double sided so it must have been from a uniform of some kind? I dont know. See the pics

Closely trimmed (cut down) sport-shirt polizei eagle. Can't say for sure if its real or not...

Agreed, usually you'd see some type of dirt/stain/use on a cut off of a sport shirt... but I suppose it could have come off of a unused shirt...

Thank you!!! Not only did you provide a great link and identify what exactly I have, it looks like from the examples provided in that link, that I have a very nice insignia on my hands!! What do people do with these?? I've been trying to think about what I could do with it and nothing comes to mind. How rare or collectable are these?

They are fairly common and they make for good display with other polizei items in a riker box. Or I like having them as background for other polizei objects in pictures etc. A good find, congrats!

I'm not much of a Polizei collector, I have a few pieces, such as a hat emblem. I'm a Luftwaffe and flag collector mostly, but if I wanted to sell this cut out piece what is it worth?
