    Polizei Panzer photo

Very interesting uniform study IMO of a photo just sold on the internet.

Notice the equipment (amo pouches) and high boots worn by the (Panz?) off. in the middle, something you wont easily see with a Heeres Panzer officer, and the cut of his wrapper (?), or is it WasserschutzPol. and are the two rows of buttons of his tunic covered by the binoculars??

The tropical uniform on the right is a dream, appears to have no sleeve eagle. Again, panzer or WSP?

IMO both are members of the Wasserschutzpolizei Ost-Adria under HSSPF Globocnik, very likely pictured on the Istrian Littoral (actual Nord-West Croatia) around 1944: that type of tropical uniform was often used by Kriegsmarine troops over there.

Yes, I think there is a good chance that these are indeed WSP, ..but the tropical uniform appears to be missing the pleats on the lower pockets, that would indicate rather Pol then KM style...? Anyway, I admit, was a little hasty and should have given the thread another title ... do believe these are WSP members after careful examination.
Still a nice photo I think.

This photo was one of a series of Police Photos recently sold individually on German e-Bay. The series of photos was taken in Italy (1944 if I remember correctly) during Anti-Partisan operations. The photo series itself was utterly fantastic - Foreign MG's and MP's, Camo Clothing, Police Armored Cars (hence the Police 'Panzer' Wrapper photos - two I believe - the posted photo being one of them) and a great field Hunde photo (which I was unfortunately outbid on - the most expensive [and best IMO] photo of the lot).

*** I may have missed the Hunde Photo, but a personal friend of mine was the lucky winner of the photo posted here....

          Hundes,

The well known serie is related ot the SS-Polizei-Regiment Bozen and the pictures were taken not in Italy but in Istria (that at the time was part of the Operationszone Adriatisches Kuestenland, but it's now Croatia): also the staff of such armored vehicles (a Lancia Z1 and an AB41) are pictured in other pictures of the same serie wearing standard Polizei uniforms and no black panzer wraps.
So, the 2 men with black caps are WSP indeed.

BTW the picture with the Hunde it's not linked to that serie, but to another Polizei unit, very likely deployed in the East.

              Hello,

My unsolicited 2 cents: The first photo looks like WSP to me. You can just see two buttons behind the binoculars. The tunic looks to be a WSP reefer jacket. Doesn't look like a black wrap tunic to me. The guy on the right could be wearing the WSP green mottled cotton summer tunic, as specified for the WSP.

I agree with you Bill, with the button exposed and the cut of the lapel, he's wearing the WSP reefer and not a Panzer wrap.
Interested in the Gendarmerie - Schutzpolizei - Gemeinden - Feuerschutzpolizei - Wasserschutzpolizei - Etc. Looking For Anything Polizei Related!
