Favourite civil/police reference source

Hi all,

I joined the forum a while back but it's only the last fortnight or so I've actually taken the time to look around.. needless to say it's an amazing resource with plenty of great knowledge and inspiring collections - my own is fairly modest at this point but growing slowly!

Anyway I thought I'd begin in the tried and true fashion by asking a question - no not is this armband real... I was interested to know what reference books/sources users would recommend for police and civil organisations?

I'm particularly interested in customs and am gradually accumulating zoll insignia etc, but this branch seems rather under-represented and have had difficulty finding anything approaching authoritative information, aside from the odd website or fleeting mention in German Headgear books.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hello,

In my humble opinion the ONLY decent reference on police insignia and uniforms is the Deuster book. It is in German, and yes many of the photos show reproductions, but the information and regulation references are unmatched.

Unfortunately it does NOT cover Zoll as they were not affiliated with the police but the finance ministry, but if you have ANY interest in police related services this is THE reference.

I bought my copy from German Amazon, but they are readily available.

Agree with Mr. Unland, this is the best reference book on market!
No good reference books for customs (RFV = Reichsfinanzverwaltung) is on the market now.
