    My new Police visor

    Hello,
I would like to share with you a cap I just got from my dear friend. It is a great cap and will go well with my tunic and mint Police helmet.

    What do you think?

    Regards,
    Jody

            That's a beauty Jody:
I always like the ones with the "saddle" look. From Stonemint?

Need to swap out the silver chin strap buttons methinks. Although vented caps could be used by officers, I think it more probable this started life as an NCO cap and would normally have black chinstrap buttons. A minor quibble at best.

I have seen these pebbled silver buttons (flat with prongs instead of a loop) on Police NCO caps before. While it is not regulation, I suspect it is OK and just a maker variation. Nice cap!

This is also found in period photos so it may have been a case of use what was available.

Visor and uniform will make for a nice dispaly

Oh come on now Bill, it's only a small detail an like you said a minor quibble at best. The purist at heart may want that perfect image but we don't need caps altered thinking they are doing the right thing when this minor use variation occurred and has been captured in period photos. The below picture is from a recent eBay auction and just another example.

                          Dave,

I believe you really. Just ashamed for not noticing that the buttons were pronged not with loops. I am getting too old and missing things. Just seen too many "upgrades" in this hobby and always suspect the worst even when it is clearly not the case as with this cap. I have owned caps with such buttons and I missed it entirely. Like I have said in the past it's time to retire!

PS that last post was tongue in cheek You and George are free to correct me whenever I need it!

That brings up a good point...Jody, could we see a picture of the back of the chinstrap studs on the underside of the liner if visible? To be made w/o the loop would make a person think they were made specific for this purpose.
