I just got this small size canteen. I expected it to be postwar, but it appeared to be marked ESB42. The cover is even reinforced, just as the larger model canteens.
Also the cover, cap and hook are marked. I didn't know that such small sized canteens existed. Were these canteens for the Hitler Youth, political or Civilian for example?
On the first photo it almost seems as large as the other one, but I can assure that it's smaller.
