    Gestapo Warrant Disc

    Hi Guys,

I've done several Searches and am satisfied that this is a repro. However, it's sure a nice repro so I decided to post it anyway if for no other reason than future reference.

    Regards,
    Stu

A reproduction indicates an attempt to replicate an original piece. There never ever was a Gestapo Dienstmarke with the supposed RZM stamp M9/86 or a raised surface for the application of the disc number. This is truly a fantasy piece the likes of which have been in circulation for well over 30 years. So perhaps it is an original one of those or a reproduction of it.

      Dear Stu,

I agree with Joe, of course, and would only add that, IMO, the original maker/faker of this item didn't do enough research before casting the piece: the RZM code category 'M9' represented meeting and event badges; if the Gestapo Warrant Disc carried any RZM code it would have been M1 for insignia. I'm no authority on these matters and will certainly bow to those more educated, but this is how I see it.

You are correct and I should have used the term fantasy rather than repro.

        Regards,
        Stu

The only decent "repro" Gestapo Discs are the Polish variety.

Unfortunately, it will cost you a few grand to obtain one of these as the majority are sold as originals!
