Technische Nothilfe Tshako badge?

Hi guys,

Thank you to some (Kev in Deva) GMIC forum members, they ID-d this badge as a TeNo badge. Now, when I know to post it into the right section, maybe some expert can tell me as well from what time period it was in use?

I picked it up randomly last weekend and was hoping that it's from more "South". It is not for my collection, so it would be great if someone can tell me as well aprox. value if its from pre 1945 period?

The "TN" is obvious on the "cockade"....but I've never see anything like this before....the TN didn't wear any "Tshako"s that I've ever heard of.....and it's got no stiffener to make it "work" as a cockade like on a Police helmet.

The cloth straps are too long for a hat badge....so IMO your back to square one....it may be TENO related but not like anything I've ever seen.....personally I doubt it is Teno....but maybe.

Just for information purposes. The TN was actually formed in 1919 and existed after WW2 (renamed but I forget what it became)...also had similiar organizations in foreign countries and occupied areas...

Thank you very much for info John! Did Germans established same organisation in France as well? It came from French dealer who obtained it from there. Of course this fact don't have to show nothing - things are traveling as much as people nowadays!

Hi Noor, ... This is definitely an Interesting TeNo Item (!) - but I have not seen
anything like it - & - do not know it's purpose.

As John G. stated correctly, the TeNo [TN was used in all official publications] did
not wear Tshakos. The Teno • TN became the THW in 1950 [Technische Hilfswerke] &
continues today as a volunteer Civil Defense type organization.

The embroidery of the "TN" is correctly done, and it's a bit different in construction.
The initials "TN" were used from 1919-1945, so it could cover a lot of years. As you compare
it to the TeNo Lapel Pin, you'll notice that the base of the "T" does
extend below the lower 2 arms of the "N". This is correct.

My 'guess' is that this is a pre-1933 TeNo item. I base this on the surrounding small
celluloid 'circles' added at the periphery [like 'glitter' on a dress, for sparkle & for
added attention. Also, no Swastika was present, as is typical for 1933-1945 TeNo items.

For the lack of a better explanation, this "device" could have been used like a
Tinnie, for the celebration of some unknown event. The small piece of metal on
the reverse of the Rondel might have been part of some sort of attachment. Some
other 'device' - like an event ID / pass could have hung from the Loop part. [Pure
speculation of my part however.]

I believe that it is indeed a 'genuine' TeNo • TN Item from the 1919-1933 era.

TeNo in France? ... There are references that the TN had an affiliated group known
as the "Secours Technique" during WWII. However there is no hard documentation
to yet prove that this was an official group [like the Technische Noodhulp in the
Netherlands - or - the TN in Norway.] It's a bit of mystery still regarding the "Secours Technique"
