Here is one from my collection about which I have a question. From the Angolia reference book section on these insignia I understand this to be of the first type, which he calls "Badge A" - being one of three types (A,B & C) in four rank distinctions. The rank distinctions are Iron, Bronze, Silver and Gold. The text, however, indicates that badges for the rank of "Silver" were of types B & C.

My badge (which is magnetic) has clearly been silvered, as much of this remains on the surface of the badge.

I would greatly appreciate comments and clarification from fellow collectors who are knowledgeable about these particular rank insignia.
