Please present us the dimensions and the weight of the medal.

What I can see, seems to be good.

You can find this medal with the 800 silver mark in the Niemann catalogue (3rd edition) on page 255.

The case is in the same style of the cases of the larger medals.

                Uwe,

The case is original but I don't like the medal. The obverse is not well-defined and the 800 stamp on the reverse, although permissible, is an easy way for the faker to give this medal a silver stamp.

Detlev once told me that the fakers find it very difficult to stamp the rim "835 PR.M.BLN".

I agree with you Stan. I have the larger award that was more common apparently, and the detail of the eagle on mine puts the one above to shame. Especially as to the neck and breast feathers that seem more cross hatched above than overlapping on my original; and the legs and claws are actually grotesque on the medal above compared to those on my larger medal. And if the large medals were minted at the Prussian mint like mine and included the silver quality and jewler mark, why wouldn't a more scarcer example like the medal also be so marked. It was awarded with a Hitler signed document.

                    Hi Stan and JoeW,

we don't have the dimensions I had asked for.

But if it is 24mm (that is the original size), you can not compare a 24mm and a 50mm medal regarding the intricacies of the design.

Once more, you can find this medal with this stamp 800 in the last book from Detlev. Do you think, that he included a picture of a copy?

I think, that the rim of the 24mm medal is to small for such a silver mark.

That 800 mark looks like it was cut by an engraver rather than punched with a stamp. I presume the Prussian mint would have produced these as they did the 50mm medal, so the stamp was available. And it is not 800.

                        Hi Uwe,

This is my 24mm medal. The silver stamp "835 PR.M. BLN" is stamped on the rim. I have a photo somewhere and will post it later so you can see the mark.

That is a beautiful medal Stan. Here is a photo of the rim marking on my 50mm which would be indentical for your 24mm.

Uwe, do you really think the 800 shown in the picture in post #4 is a stamp? Is the one in the Detlev picture as crudely engraved?

                            Hi,

we can not compare 24mm medals with 50mm medals, and we can not direct compare a medal made by the Prussian state mint with a medal made by another maker.
Both medals were not only made by the Prussian state mint.

Is the one in the Detlev picture as crudely engraved?
As I can see it in the book, definitely yes. At the same place and in the same dimensions.

And for the rim of the 24mm medal I'm talking about the silver mark on the first presented medal.

It is the same with the different silver marks on the 50mm medals. My 50mm medal is silver marked on the rim with 990, the mark is much larger/higher then the mark of the Prussian mint.
The mark 990 is in the 6 o'clock position:
