    50 years faithful service cross

    Hi,
I am looking to buy this medal and would like to get your opinions on authenticity and rarity.
No case , stamped 1 on the ring, nice patina.
Is a price range correct of this medal $250-280???
Any idea how many were awarded ?
The 50 years made from silver or plated like 25 years?
    Regards,
    Andrei

This Faithful Service Medal (Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen fur Angestellte und Arbeiter der freien Wirtschaft) was founded on January 30th 1938 as a special class to the Faithful Service Medal to reward long and faithful service of employees of private firms who worked for the same concern for a period of 50 years or more. The medal is a silver cross with a gold wreath and a gold 50 at the top arm of the cross. The reverse has "Für Treue Arbeit" (For Faithful Work) stamped on it.

I think the price is low I would have expected that price to be in Euros

cross looks ok for what i can see, the silver finish is far gone (or is that the picture?), price is very low, i would expected something like 350 in euro's...

        regards

Yours is a very nice piece. Unless marked with silver content, wouldn't that indicate silver finish? Don't recall a number awarded. Did Littlejohn provide any numbers?

Member of the Verwaltungspolizei (Administrative Police) also legally qualified for these awards, as they were not considered true police civil servants under the law for receipt of the Police Long Service Awards.

          Here are my examples.

Looks fine from here. If you can sang it for that price go for it.

AS far as the silver finish ... more often than not the finish on these appears "dirty". Much more so than the gilding which in most cases still retains it's nice bright color.

Well there are mint badges of all types to be found. But compared to worn and used, they are in the rarer category.
